Wes had to go to a Foot and Ankle conference down in Florida, so we decided to take a little trip ourselves up to Upstate New York. It just so happen to be the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra, and my parents had never been up there to see the Sacred Grove or other LDS church spots. Since my grandparents served their mission there almost 30 years ago, my mom had always pictured these spots but never seen them with her own eyes. It was a bit of a drive, but it was a beautiful drive and the kids did great. We drove up the length of Seneca Lake, and it really was so beautiful. Charlie loved seeing the water out his window and kept commenting about it. Once we checked into our hotel, we had some time before we had to be at the pageant, so we headed to the printing shop where the Book of Mormon was first printed. It's a pretty neat story and it's really interesting see how they printed everything and how ahead of the time they were. I'm glad we were able to see it. After we finished there, we headed to Hill Cumorah and checked out the Visitors Center, grabbed some dinner, and then waited for the pageant to start. It was fun to see the participants coming out in their outfits. Reese really like seeing one of the wise men and walked right up to him to get her picture taken with him. He was so sweet when I thanked him for the picture and said the he was the one that was grateful for the opportunity to hold her. When the pageant finally started, the kids were mesmerized. They were so good and really liked it. Reese loved seeing the boat Nephi built, fires, water falls, and of course Jesus. It really is a great production and depiction of the Book of Mormon. I'm so glad that we were able to go. We got back to our hotel around 11 PM and the kids shared a bed with me. They actually slept pretty good and were ready for the next day.
