Durham NC visit

Wes had a fellowship interview at Duke last weekend, so we jumped at the opportunity to go with him and get away from home for a quick weekend.  We started driving after picking Charlie up from school on Friday and headed south.  After a quick lunch at Café Rio and a quick stop at Ikea for a few needed items, we got stuck in the famous DC traffic.  It was big memories of driving from DC down to Richmond to visit Chris so many years ago.  But we made it down to Durham around 8 PM.  The kids were excited to be in a hotel and were all riled up.  It took them a bit to quiet down for bed, and I even had to sleep with them that night.  It at least gave Wes the needed rest for his interview the next morning.  While Wes was away, we cuddled, got ready, grabbed some breakfast, and then played, read, and hung out in our room.  The kids did great waiting for Wes to be done, but we were all ready to get out by the time he got back.  We grabbed some lunch and then headed to the Museum of Life and Science, which several people told Wes was a big hit for kids.  They did like it.  Reese took a nap in our arms for the first bit, so Wes took Charlie around to explore.  Once Reese woke up, we headed outside for them to play.  They had fun running around, and then he checked out the butterfly house.  One landed on Wes's shoulder almost immediately and stayed there until we were ready to head out and I had to shoo it off.  Reese and Charlie were a little scared that the butterfly would hurt their daddy, but of course he was just fine.  We checked out some interesting insects and then went over to see the bears and the wolves before it was time for closing.  It was a good little outing for the kids.  That evening we checked out Chapel Hill and grabbed some dinner.  We headed home on Sunday, making great time.  It was definitely a quick trip, but much needed after the last month.  It was only in the 50s, but that is double what we have been in PA, so it was nice to not have to wear our big winter coats.  Now only three more interviews to go and Wes will be done.  I can't wait to find out where we'll be headed summer 2015.
